
Clare Hoey is a writer director living in London.
Her solo feature LOVE SUCKER, which she wrote and will direct, was commissioned by Screen Australia and is currently in pre-production. She is also developing another feature, MANE, with BBC Film and Public Dreams, co-written with her writing partner Bel Knight.
Clare’s short films have screened internationally to critical acclaim. SHOWPONY, starring Sophie Lowe and Michael Socha, premiered at LSFF and Flickerfest. 2004 WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO featured at SXSW London, was selected for Audience Award at Dublin International Film Festival, and won Best Comedy at the Australian Women in Film Festival. She also co-wrote FARMERS!?, directed by Freddie Leyden, which was nominated for an Irish Film and Television Award.
She has developed original projects with Netflix, Firebird Pictures, Channel 4, Roughcut, Sid Gentle, and NBCUniversal.
