Helena Middleton

Director Helena Middleton’s award winning debut short film, KIN, had its international premiere at Palm Springs International Film Festival and enjoyed an extensive festival run, including Underwire and an out-of-competition screening at Encounters. KIN won the city prize at the Festival du Court-Metrage. Her second short, MY MAMA, A MAN, a documentary about her mum and the drag king community, screened at BFI Flare Festival 2020 and won the Best Story prize at Vindhya International Film Festival. Helena has most recently directed a trio of music videos for singer/songwriter Sam Brookes, a dance film with Tim Lytc and an original movement film, BREADLINE, which was commissioned by the BBC. Helena is a freelance theatre director and founding member of internationally acclaimed theatre company The Wardrobe Ensemble, a group dedicated to creating devised ensemble based theatre. She has directed critically acclaimed work at venues such as The National Theatre and the Trafalgar Studios in the West End. @helenamiddletonfilm
