Issy Franklin

Issy is a transmasculine writer & director from the South West, interested in experimental approaches to narrative filmmaking. At 17, their first short TRIGGER BANG, an interrogation of cancel culture, was commissioned through BBC New Creatives, produced by Calling The Shots. They went on to take part in the BFI’s New Voices program and Edinburgh TV Festival’s talent scheme The Network. Following the Roundhouse commissioned COCOON, they are developing their next short with Grey Moth. Issy is being mentored by BIFA-nominated filmmaker Sophie Littman (KNOW THE GRASS, SUDDEN LIGHT).In 2021, Issy joined the in-house development team at Roughcut Television, one of the UK’s biggest independent producers of scripted television, and now works as a Script Editor in the emerging drama department.
