Saskia Steinberg is a 25 year old, London-based filmmaker.
Her journey into film began at Trinity College Dublin, where she studied film while working as the assistant to Irish director John Carney. During her time at university, Saskia’s first screenplay was nominated for funding by Screen Ireland.
Her debut short film, DANCED, received its world premiere at the 2024 Rhode Island International Film Festival. Her second short film, TYPE OF RAIN supported by Panavision, Panalux and Cinelab, premiered at the 2025 BFI Future Film Festival. It is currently making its way through the film festival circuit, where she has been nominated for Best Writer at BIFA-qualifying Women x Film Festival. She also won Young Cinemagic Filmmaker of the Year 2025, in the Drama category.
Both films were co-written, directed and produced by Saskia under the production company Blue Lobster Productions, which she runs alongside her collaborator and producer, Madison Hookway.
Saskia’s style is observational and reflective, often drawing on her own life and the lives of those close to her. She loves making character-led films that explore complex situations and human connections, opting for depth and authenticity over action.
