GIF Mexico are hosting a curation of short films by female filmmakers, in recognition of international women's day. Last year on March 9th, tens of thousands of women disappeared from the streets and workplaces across Mexico in a call for government action against femicide and gender based violence, a poignant symbol of the fact that on average 10 women per day are killed in Mexico. Even though Covid will restrict the possibilities of public action this year, it’s vital the conversation is continued.

This livestream screening, followed by a panel discussion with the directors of the films, hosted by Elena Fortes, co-founder of No-Ficcion and previous director of Ambulante Film Festival, will spotlight and celebrate some of Mexico’s most exciting directing talent, providing a platform for these women and their stories.

16th March 2pm CST / 8pm GMT. SIGN UP HERE.
