Joanna Suchomska is a Polish-born documentary filmmaker based in Brighton. In her work, shaped by her identity as an immigrant, she is drawn to themes of belonging, memory, taboo, and the female experience. She's interested in character-driven stories that reveal wider social truths through intimate, personal perspectives and hopes her films can evoke radical empathy. In 2025, Joanna directed Love Notes to Nature, a short documentary commissioned by Sheffield DocFest as part of their annual Filmmaker Challenge. She is an alumna of the Grierson Trust's DocLab scheme (2021), Sheffield DocFest’s Amplify: Production Talent scheme (2023), and goEast Festival's East-West Talent Lab (2024).
