The daughter of designers, Julia grew up being carried around construction sites in a 5-gallon bucket. She ate her morning cereal in half-built homes alongside burly contractors and wiry electricians, watching the rooms around her erode and evolve. After studying film and philosophy at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Julia first worked as a cinematographer and editor before fully transitioning into writing and directing. Her love for craft has influenced her desire to take nuanced creative approaches to the stories she tells.Julia’s work has been recognized internationally, with projects spanning the documentary, narrative, music video and commercial spaces. In 2023, her short documentary Andi was shortlisted for the Young Director Award at Cannes and this year she won gold for her narrative short script, Chicken Skin — set to shoot later this year. At 28, Julia has received recognition from the 1.4 Awards, the Berlin Commercial Awards and Raindance Film Festival for her directorial work for clients such as Columbia Records, the US Air Force, UMass and more. Julia is currently developing her debut feature film.
