Two carers; a disheartened young immigrant and an experienced but irritable Scottish lady strike up an unlikely connection, while they struggle to give people the care they deserve under their private agency’s command.

Care was inspired by the director's experiences of being a care worker during the Covid 2020 pandemic when she lost her hospitality job. Determined to find a job with more meaning and connection, Jagoda thought carework would offer this. Instead, what she found was a broken system where private care forces workers and patients to abide by time and cost saving algorithms — rather than prioritising its industry namesake — care. Care was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA in 2024. It has won 3 RTS Awards, as well as having picked up a special mention at Leeds Film Festival 2024 and won the audience award at Glasgow Short Film Festival 2024.Care is a graduation film made by students and new graduates. It premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival and has gone on to play festivals across the UK and Europe, including Ale Kino Poznan and NOT Fest Italia. The Skinny wrote “Care isn’t just last year’s best Scottish student film, it’s probably the best short film made in Scotland that year, period.”
