Agata, a 25-year-old girl, has tried her entire life to gain independence from an oppressive, traditional mother. But when she discovers she has the same illness that affected her mother, something breaks—both outside and within her. That crack is where the story begins: a journey into identity and memory, which takes on a distorted, almost surreal form. As she is asked to make a drastic decision about her body, her mother’s obsession and heaviness no longer seems as foreign as it once did, and Agatha faces the prospect of becoming what she comes from.
The filmmaker says, ‘Tits Don’t Cry stems from a deeply personal urgency: to tell a story close to my heart, while balancing pain with irony. It is a film about the body, family bonds, and how certain wounds are passed down, even unintentionally.’
