Lydia Garnett is a director and photographer based in London. Their work centres on storytelling and exploring new queer narratives. Enter their latest music video: Ghum - Some People, featuring a line up of queer performative alter egos, ready to impress and not scared to up-dress.
London-based post-punk group GHUM have announced their debut album Bitter. The quartet have also unveiled new track ‘Some People’, accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek visual directed by Lydia Garnett.
Vocalist Laura Guerrero Lora 'This song is about getting to know someone and having the fear of hurting them, because love has turned a bit hopeless and unexciting. Not trusting oneself to be able to love someone after not falling in love for a long time. We wanted to have a bit of fun with a video that was diverse and inclusive. Lydia has created a visual world where a fun, camp narrative plays out. Taking inspiration from 90’s pop videos, John Waters movies and the recent Spice Girls documentary series, she created a humorous, unpredictable, queer friendly world for us to live in.'
Lydia Garnett, ‘I loved making this video for GHUM! This was all about hammy acting and alter egos, the band and cast were amazing and totally got the humour, silliness and the camp mood I wanted to create.’
