The film moves between vulnerability, defiance, and female rage to interrogate societal pressures, structural inequality, and what it means to be a woman.
Starring Swiss actress Carla Juri and written and directed by Florine & Kim Nüesch, the Nüesch Sisters, (Un)Becoming was conceived by women and brought to life by an almost entirely female crew.
The illusion that progress in women's rights is linear has been shaken by the current political climate. Across the world, women's self-determination is increasingly being challenged, from reproductive rights and freedom of expression to the right to move freely and exist safely in society. As these rights come under increasing pressure, it becomes ever more urgent for women to create spaces for their perspectives.
