Venetian Men is filmmaker Celia Willis' funny account of a time she loves to look back on, her teenage years - in the mid 90s. A teenage cast dressed in typically grungey/cutesie 90s outfits re-enact the joy and silliness of pre-smart-phone youth. A time some of us Girls in Film audience are old enough to remember.

Before Venetian Men takes us on the ultimate girls trip to Venice, it guides us through all the fun that could be had in South London in the 90s, when the adults were enjoying rave music, the youngers looked up to this hedonism and re-created it in their own way: squat parties, pubs, bunking off school, smoking weed.. 'We all know 16. But 15, there's something under the radar, free, forgotten about 15.'

Now, using Celia Willis' memories and an old photo album of pictures for inspiration, the two fifteen year old girls leave South London and take their teenage chaos to Venice. A whole new land of discovery with a whole new land of boys. And true to their gutsy teenage wonder, they have no problem causing up a stir asking the Venetian men to be in their pictures.

Ultimately, Venetian Men is a personal story based on an album of photographs of beautiful Venetian men Celia Willis took with her best friend when they were fifteen, in 1994.

Celia Willis 'Venetian Men is based on a true story. Here are the facts. In 1994, my best friend and I travelled from South London (UK) to Venice (Italy), for a three day trip. We were fifteen years old. It was our first solo trip. We spent our whole time in Venice photographing hot Venetian men. Why did we do that? That trip won't leave us alone. Nearly 30 years later the photographs of those men are still our most treasured possession. What is it about that trip that had such a huge effect on our teenage selves and still lives on in our hearts as grown women?'
