You Want Company? is a portrait of a young woman, Gargi Bordoloi, who has moved from Assam to Bangalore to make a living. It's almost Gargi's birthday and her friends Madhu and Farhan are excited to celebrate this day with her. Unfortunately, she has to work overtime with her senior colleague Anurag. We follow Gargi as she impatiently tries to finish her work so she can get home to her friends before it is midnight and Anurag, the only other person in the office, makes her feel uncomfortable with his "friendly" advances. We follow Gargi, as she tries to cope with the events that follow with the help of her friend Madhu who also works with her in the same office.

The director Mehak Matharu says: This film is a portrait of young women in India trying to navigate personal and professional lives. It aims to portray the beauty of female friendships and the complex emotions experienced by them. I come from a household where most women are homemakers and do not get an equal chance to fulfill their professional dreams. I was lucky enough to be able to come to a city like Bangalore and live with supportive women around me who fueled me with ambition. I met women from different walks of life who taught me important lessons about friendship, grief, strength, relationships, family, politics, privilege, etc. Harassment and violence (of different degrees) towards women is something so common that almost every woman I have met has faced some form of it. Which is one of the reasons why they understand the psychology behind it so well. I have been there for my friends when they have faced it and they have been there for me. This film is my ode to all the women who find comfort, support, and a safe space in other women.
