How can we free the nipple if only certain breasts are celebrated?

Feminist filmmakers Somos We Are want to talk about tits! Breasts come in all shapes and sizes, yet the media seems to only show big, bouncing, ‘perfect’ tits, leaving out the small ones, the uneven breasts, the #saggyboobs, the scarred ones. Fed up with society’s obsession with unrealistic expectations of what they should look like, they asked eleven women to talk about their own breasts, revealing their first memories of having them, to experiencing body shame and discomfort, to growing older and learning to love them. ‘Let’s Talk About Tits’ is a frank and much-needed look at sexuality, expression, freedom and parenthood, exploring how society’s perception of boobs affects the consciousness and confidence of women worldwide and why the stereotypical, sexist and dated image of breasts we see in the media needs to be changed.

On the idea behind the film, Somos We Are explain: “We felt a really important part of having boobs was overlooked. How we get them and the transformations we undergo physically as they grow, are more often than not out of sync with our mental state. Once we started talking to friends we realised how important all their stories were to share to help erase the stereotypes, make some noise and, importantly, get some respect for boobs.”
